What's inside

The everyday Jewish stuff. Just the good parts.

No LLM. No AI chat. No infinite scroll. Yaniv's commentary is hand-written by an actual person. The sacred texts come from Sefaria's open library, with attribution. nothing is invented. nothing is hallucinated.

The voice

Yaniv's the uncle At the end of the table.

He was secular, became religious. Slowly, on his own terms. He pours you arak. He asks how you're doing, and he means it.

He's not the rabbi. He's the one who makes the rabbi's teaching feel like it's for you.

“

I was you. Drove an audi to the kotel. Ate at jeff's on a Tuesday. I kept showing up because Someone has to keep this thing alive. let's do it together.

So how does it stay free?

Inside the app there's a quiet "send a chai" Button. Eighteen, or a few times that, whatever feels right. It unlocks nothing. It just keeps the lights on. At shul the honors go for a chai; this is that box.

Ask yaniv

The questions People actually ask.

yes. yaniv knows ashkenazi, sephardic, mizrahi, persian. tefillin pages branch by nusach. parasha pulls the haftarah your tradition reads. the voice is sephardic-leaning because that’s the voice. but the halacha respects whatever shul your grandmother went to.

today they live on your iphone and nowhere else. i am building a backup so a lost phone doesn’t lose them, and when it ships this page will say so plainly. either way the analytics never see a name: what gets recorded is that a memorial screen was opened, never whose.

from Sefaria.org, the open library of Jewish texts. parasha, tehillim, the Hebrew of the brachot. all properly attributed in the app. Shabbat times come from Hebcal. yaniv didn’t invent any of it. he just brought it to you in the right voice.

not yet. v1 is iOS only. built native in swift and swiftui because that’s how this experience deserves to feel. android is on the roadmap but no date yet.

no. there are zero generative features. yaniv’s commentary is hand-written by an actual person. yaniv doesn’t hallucinate halacha at you. there are no chatbots, no “ask yaniv anything”. just a daily companion with content somebody actually thought about.

no dark mode in v1. the cream aesthetic IS the brand. it’s warm, it’s legible at 6am, and it doesn’t feel like another notification competing for your nervous system. maybe v2.

when it’s on the app store. this page and the app go live the same day, so if you’re reading this, you can download it. and yes, it’s free.

a small team that grew up sephardic in la and got tired of either austere prayer apps or christian-coded habit apps. we’re building the thing we wanted on our own phones.
